Amazing! Only a cub, eh? Now what would have happened if the little thing hadn't re-started??? Would have been a cold night on the ol' mountain. Take-off was out of this world!!!!!! Nice flying!!!

Impressive video, but I am a bit suspect of the authenticity of being shot from an airplane. The landing was a bit smooth considering the terrain. But most significantly, at the 1:40 mark, you can hear a turbine motor starting up in the background. I have a sneaking suspicion that this was actually shot from a turbine helicopter and the video was edited to make it appear that it was done in the Super Cub.

Steve I think what you heard was the gyro starting up when he turned on the master switch. I used to have a Cessena 170a, and the only gyro on board was the T&B. It really made a lot of noise untill it got up to speed. Louder if it was cold.
BTW, Bill Fairchild used to fly off of the glacer on Mt Olympas in Wa state. This was in the 1950s. He flew a Champ Sky-Track equipped with retractable skis.

Nice bit of flying though. Looking the mountians around there, I hope he had a good surval kit on board. I used to carry one in my C182 when flying in the mountans of Ca.

That is none other than Coyote Ugly! If you log onto Supercub.org, you will see many beautiful pics with his Cub in the Nevada desert.......usually perched on a mountain overlooking a vast landscape of Nevada desert.

Nothing fake about that. I have flown with Coyote and witnessed him lading in that spot. No I did not land with him but I watched him and his son in two separate planes land more than one place like that while we flew along. Quite the sight I must say!

Must be a good wind, see a lot of this in Alaska, not 11,000 feet however, tree don't grow that high in Nevada and the official summit of Bunker Hill is in the 8,000 foot range. Damn good flying.
