The photo is our 1943 R4D5 (Naval version of a C-47). It belongs to my brother and I and is a former smokejumper trainer. We think she was a VIP transport in her active duty as the interior is fully upholstered with curtains, reading lights, vents, oxygen plug-ins, etc throughout the cabin. We are the first civilian owners and you can still see the original paint down the side with the stars and bars and the United States Army across the top. We have most of the parts for a static display and she makes a dandy clubhouse in McCall, ID although it is really too much for us as a hobby project. We are currently looking for a good museum home for her.
